Holding It In Makes You Sick: The Hidden Cost

Many of us grow up learning to “be strong,” “push through,” or “keep it together.” But what we rarely talk about is the weight that comes with carrying emotions we never release. Anger. Bitterness. Jealousy. Resentment. Unforgiveness. Hidden hurt. Silent disappointment. These emotions don’t stay neatly tucked away in the heart. The body feels them. The mind reacts to them. And the soul holds them like unspoken stories. The Body Keeps the Score When we bottle up hard emotions, the body shifts into a subtle form of stress response. Even if we smile on the outside, our inside is tightening, guarding, bracing. Over time, suppressed emotions can contribute to: Chronic tension Anxiety and irritability Fatigue and sleep issues High blood pressure Weakened immune system Digestive issues Emotional numbness or shutdown What stays unspoken becomes stored. The Light Of Truth

Have you experienced being in darkness, and that first burst of light hits your eyes, you instinctively shield yourself? Or maybe you close your eyes, squint, or lower your lids—not because you don’t want the light, but because it’s overwhelming at first. That’s what happens when you've been filled with light and refuse to return to darkness.

Your light doesn’t dim for others—it shines, illuminates. And those still in darkness may not be able to take it. It irritates, exposes, or even blinds them, not because you’re doing anything wrong, but because they haven’t yet adjusted.

Remember this, it’s not your job to dim your light ever. They’re the ones still in the dark. They need to adjust—not you.

They don’t hate you—they hate what your light reveals.
The truth makes them uncomfortable, so they turn away.
But hiding in darkness doesn’t make it go away.
Yes, truth is bittersweet…
But I’d rather live free in the light than stay shackled by a lie.

I don’t live to please people.
I live to please God.
And that means walking in truth—even when it costs me.
