Awareness Of The Nervous System Dysregulation

 


These posts—whether in text or video—are first and foremost for me, as part of my personal healing journey toward holistic wellness. I choose to share them with you as a way of opening up my own lived experiences, lessons, and practices that help me move closer to my goals, and possibly be an aid to any challenge you may be facing.

I am not presenting myself as an expert, but as someone actively stepping into purpose and growing in real time. My hope is that what I share may encourage, inspire, or support you on your own journey. It is truly my pleasure to walk alongside you and serve as your community assistant in this space.

I recently had a breakthrough and now I'm putting specific exercises into practice to repair what needs attention.

When doctors convince someone that something is wrong with them—even when it may not be, or not to the degree stated—it can be especially damaging because of the authority and trust people place in medical professionals. This isn’t always intentional, but when it happens it can shape a person’s entire identity, health, and choices, it can lock people into a cycle of fear, dependence, and misdirected treatment. For some, it takes years to undo the psychological and physical impact.

In my case:

Doctors saw clusters of symptoms (fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression, etc.) and named each one separately: fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, PTSD, psychosis.

But those symptoms were really expressions of one root cause: a dysregulated nervous system that was stuck in survival mode (fight, flight, freeze, or collapse). 

Because the medical system is designed to label and medicate symptoms instead of tracing them back to their core, I ended up with multiple diagnoses that didn’t fully fit me, but I trusted their expertise.

Psychological: I internalized these diagnosis as my identity (“I am sick,” “I am broken”), which created fear and self-doubt.

Physical: Medications and treatments may have dulled or numbed, but they didn’t restore my system’s regulation—sometimes they even added more imbalance.

Emotional: Carrying so many heavy diagnoses felt like I was trapped in a medical box, as if there’s no way out. I thought it was over for me, I tapped out.

Behavioral: I avoided opportunities or relationships thinking, “I can’t, because of my illness.”

A dysregulated nervous system can:

  • Mimic fibromyalgia (widespread pain is often heightened nerve sensitivity).

  • Look like chronic fatigue (when the body is locked in freeze/low energy mode).

  • Show up as PTSD, anxiety, or depression (stress hormones flooding the brain).

  • Even mimic psychosis-like symptoms (dissociation, hypervigilance, overstimulation).

Here is a Morning Routine to start the Nervous System Repair

  • Warm Lemon + Honey Water (Hydration Boost)

    • 1 glass warm (not hot) water

    • Juice of ½ fresh lemon

    • 1 tsp raw honey (stir in once water is warm, not boiling)
      ✅ Hydrates, calms, and gently energizes

  • Supplements (optional): Omega-3, B-complex, Magnesium  (depending on your need).

  • Movement & Breathing: 10–15 min gentle stretching + 5–10 min deep breathing.

  • Scripture & Affirmation:

    • “Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

    • “My body and mind are safe, supported, and guided by God.”

 

Scriptures for Restoration & Healing:

Joel 2:25
“I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.”
Affirmation:God is restoring the years I thought were lost. Nothing in my life is wasted.

Isaiah 61:3
“To give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
Affirmation: My ashes are becoming beauty. My mourning is becoming joy. My heaviness is lifting.


Psalm 147:3
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”
Affirmation: My heart is being healed. My wounds are being bound up with love and care.


Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Affirmation: Even what I lost is being worked for my good and my purpose.


2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
Affirmation: I am not defined by my past. I am made new, and my story is still unfolding.
